I could use some help from anyone out there that has been involved in organizing a weigh-off. So far it has been pretty simple and sponsors are jumping on board especially since we are the only game in town and Vancouver is a very large city. Newspapers are involved, local TV is interested, have arranged some sponsors and prizes but my main question is how do you come up with the prize money? We want to grow this event and fit it in with the other events in the Pacific Northwest.
Any advice is welcome/Glenn

Hey, Glenn, if you build it, they will come. Let's see what kind of publicity we can get this year and that should make it easier when lining up sponsors for next year. Any help you need, let me know, I'm in.

Hey Glenn, I did a weighoff at school and had a couple of food processors donate some cash, and several businesses donate gift certificates and such. I did a nice thank-you certificate and took it to them last week. All of them said they'd do it again in a heartbeat. Give all of the local media a buzz when you do it. Like Lawman says, it just takes a bit of publicity and over the next few years it'll just take off. I had two weeks in a row in the local paper of major pumpkin coverage. People are suckers for giant vegetables (which would explain the popularity of this website). Alan
