Hello neighbors-

Im looking for potential interest in a weighoff slated for the second weekend in October, to be held at Country Sun pumpkin farm in Stillwater, MN. Right on the MN/WI border, only 15 minutes east of St. Paul. We've laid the ground work for this event, and would like to get an idea of how many growers would be willing to participate. With some big name corporate sponsors (Andersen Windows, Home Depot, Imation, Walmart, Target, Mendards, Kohls, ETC) only a stones throw from the event, we expect to deliver impressive payouts equal to or surpassing most GPC events in our area.

At this point im not asking any thing from you except interest in this event, tenatively named the "St Croix Valley GPW"

Rules will follow the majority of GPC guidelines, however the event will not be sanctioned. Some points of interest: no previously weighed fruit are eligible for prizemoney, but are welcome as EXH. Note: Prize structure will pay thru 20 places, however, in the event that there are not enough non-EXH fruit present, Remaining prize slots will be awarded to EXH fruit.

All fruit, whether green, orange, purple, you name are classifed as pumpkins. One class, lotsa color.

I will post more details as they are organized. in the mean time, feel free to ask questions and offer input.

Joze,
The location would make it the closest weigh-off for me(that I know of). I live in central MN.
I'll ask what the advantages of going to a GPC sanctioned event will be. If the advantages are great enough, I'd go to one of them, if I had a real big one. If no advantages of GPC sanctioned for me, I'd be real interested in the tentative event you speak of.
