I have one where the underside is getting white. GPC rules say it's supposed to be all green. Should I grow it on a slatted shelf like the watermelon growers or just cross my fingers that it will be 'green enough' even on the underside. Thank you!

That's not a problem. Same rules as with squash, the bottom can be white.
