Wonder if anyone has done this cross, or the reverse cross or is planning to? 1916 seems to throw orange more often than not. It doesn't look like very many 1912's were planted last year, but the few that did threw Orange.

The 1912 was a tough one to germinate and grow...it threw orange. I've got it crossed with the 823 House..811x359 and am growing a 1297.5 Young seed that was very orange from the 1912.

from what i saw last year..the best orange from the 1912 was on the 1297.5. I still have 3 1912 seeds is possession. I have not tried to germinate any yet this year but i have a 1916 barron up. There is still a chance that i might be starting a 1912 for the community garden.

I've got all three of these seeds started-
1297.5 were the first of my 9 to come up. The 1912's aren't showing up yet and its been 6 days since planting. Hopefully they will be up tonight when I get home.

I will show you in October what the 1912 x 1143 Engel throws. That is ENGEL not ENGLE for my HDA :)The 1912 x 1916 could be a crap shoot, on genetics.

You are correct. May also have to add the 2106 and 2307 to the heavy orange list.

Day 7 and the 1912's still haven't germinated...
the 1297.5 Young was the first up and both seedlings look very pretty!

Likewise. I planted 43 seeds this year and all but 4 germinated; 2 of those were the 1912. Tough seed to germ!

I have a 1912 x 2106 pollinated on June 15 and a 2106 x 1912 pollinated June 18... Had 2 solid sprouts off of 2 1912's this year. Let's hope they make it!

Hey Kevin, I'm growing the 1912 so if you need to get some pollen to make a special cross I should have some soon... if you don't mind driving down here that is. Took me 5 seeds to finally get a 1912 to go.

Thanks Vince! I will keep that it mind. I've got a 777 Young that may provide the pollen but its growing so slowly I can't be certain. I would love to have that cross available. Also still have two backups in pots: a 1297.5 Young, which is a 1912 offspring and a 1223.5 Gansert to choose from. All have strong Orange potential. The backups are flowering very well for not getting much attention.
