Now that all the backups are gone, what do we have in the gene pool this season?

There was a lot of talk about the 705 debacco this winter, did anyone actually go with it? I did. I also have a 1146 Snyder hd x hd winner plants and a 680 gerhardt which is a selfed 811.

I put two 705 DeBacco in lost them both my fault. I will plant that seed again {2 left}. Did use the 705 pollinator for the 975 Gansert before losing the 705 plant. 975 is at 14 dap.

1047.5 and 748 McWilliams, 288 Buglio and 1710 Stevens Hopkins. Made the first pollination on a main vine this morning, a 5 lobe 288 pollinated with a 748. The 1047.5 is a little behind in vine growth but the others are looking good.

I promised I would go with the most robust plants so after 9 starts the 4 finalists are 444 House # 1- 575 Wolf x 359 Foss( two plants ), 890 Dill- 1290 Poirier x 1016 Daletas and 1143 Engel- 359 Foss x 1374 Engel. The two 444 Houseplants are the rock stars and the other two are healthy but small.I'm at least two weeks behind, maybe three but it's all good.

Went with 705 last year and it was an aggressive plant for me. Grew my 631 last year and had a lot more potential for size, my weight was due to grower error. Was the thickest, most uniform walls on any pumpkin I've ever grown with decent orange color, but not super glossy.

Sprouted the 705 again this year against my 631 from it, and the 631 won out for the 150 contest, crossed with 2106 Schmitt for a keeper. Monster vines coming from it, and nothing but 5 or 6 lobe fruits have shown on it so far, so the 705 passes it's strength on well. It did for me at least.

1912 Carter and 2106 Schmit are both in my large plots, each crossed by the each other.

Also have 2 x 982 Trychta going, one is mine, one is the wife's plant. Haven't decided the cross on these yet, probably one by 2106, possibly one by sib...

I have a 1044 Gansert, 1385 H/J and a 1662 Steil. Could care less about crosses as I'm not expecting anything big. I've had lots of setbacks this year.

1327.5 Rea, 829 Christensen, 778 Gannett, and a 270 Foss. I managed to kill my 1399 Christensen and 777 Young during germination. My season is going slow, plants just starting to get side vines. I just like to have a personal best and I will be happy. Best of luck to everyone.

1) 1297.5 Young - beautiful bright orange from the 1912 Carter. Pollinator was 1000.5 Gansert. It has no choice but to be a pretty thing!

2) 1327.5 Rea - All progeny have been a nice orange. Grown from a 1498 Werner & pollinated by 979 McMillan.
The 979 never got the attention it deserved. It is the brightest orange progeny from the 1634 Werner.
