I have a lot of plants. There are many sets now and they are not very old most ten days or less. Some are either starting yellow or turning yellow with some hints of orange after being in the sun for a week, others are adamantly white or creamy. Some of those which I expect will be the most orange based on the genetics are starting as pale/translucent with some green stripes.
I'm impatient to know how they'll end up... I guess I'll find out soon enough.

If you know what to look for early on and from that what to expect I'd really like to know.

In my limited experience, if they are going to go orange, you will have a clear idea by the one month mark. Color, especially if it ends up dark like my 982, will usually express itself early. Also, if you will end up with Calai Dots (the light orange freckles on top of darker orange background) they typically show in as little as the first 2 weeks and will continues to brighten throughout the season.
Additionally, parents are sometimes a good indicator. My 2106 right now looks a lot like mama did when she was young, so I have faith she will get the orange that mama had rather than the white that mike had on some of his other pumpkins. Not always a good way to judge because of the randomness of gene combination, but when it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...
The only pale fruit with green stripes I have ever grown is the 1060 Holub Squumpkin that I have in currently. Could not get a green fruit on that seed out of 4 plants, and was going to remove, but I all of the pumpkins I can get for a project, no need for the seeds on it. Crossed with 1511.5 Haist squash just in case I keep em. I would say green stripes are not an indicator of an orange gene pumpkin, but there's always a chance I suppose.

Deep color pumpkins will show orange in the ribs first at around 2-3 weeks of age, and begin to spread fast and darken whether there is a blanket on top or not.

Sorry for the run of posts...
I also feel that pictures taken in the evening show the color of your pumpkins better. Take a picture in the morning versus one just before sunset. I bet you the late photo looks more orange ;)

Thanks Dustin. Your squmpkin crossed with a squash should be 50/50 chance of being either a squash or squmpkin according to my understanding. I do have one of those types (a 1047 barlow) so I know what you are talking about. Yes I noticed calai dots in one already. Thanks!

Pink seems to be the last color to show up? Thanks all.

If you find a bubblegum pink seed look out, cause I'm coming after it! Would be my dream to get a glossy cotton candy thrower.

Swaintech is the only one I've ever seen. I just had a white one turn it went pinkish about 50 DAP but its not not the best pink... its just the usual... an ugly mix with yellow. Check out swaintech's diary not sure which year though.
