So who won that contest it was in Wisconsin or Michigan I think? I thought About entering, but one of the requirements was that you had to finish the season with a pumpkin so I decided not to.

Are talking about the competition that we had Stillwater. That was not the World Howard dill contest...We are calling it a regional competition where any previous HD contender was invited to compete. This year, we had 4 entries. The winner for the first year was Joe Ailts. He brought in a beautiful pumpkin grown an Engel seed. It was shiny, smooth skinned, nice shaped, and had calais spots. It weighed 1211.5 . The picture is here:

Joe took home the $500 1st prize and is the first holder of the traveling HD trophy. Also in the competition was Nate Zachmeier, who won an HD award at his first weighoff. His pumpkin weighed 636 and was grown from a Gansert seed. Here is the picture: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=298860 Rounding out the competition were two pumpkins grown from 1109 Borgers. Doug Wallace brought in a 536 pound, solid orange, smooth skinned pumpkin. And for the last entry was mine. It weighed 1211, was smooth skinned with slight spider web calais. The shape was not completely symmetrical. It showed some battle marks from the transport and handling. Here is the picture of Dougs and mine..sorry, I didnt get the pictures out of the truck. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=298987 I certainly agreed with the decision for the winner. Hoping that seeds from all 4 will be available from the St Croix Growers Association very soon. I have Doug's and my seeds drying right now.
