Thanks John, and yes Howard had lots of little note books on hand what his next move would be? Usually from my memories he determined the male influenced the color, the female for weight if that makes sense?

Danny I look back to the grandparents in most cases but it still can be a crap shoot. But once in awhile I get lucky!

Good point John regarding a "crap shoot", sometimes that's part of the fun as to what new seed produces. I recall several years back we grew 3 stunning dark orange beautiful pumpkins from a certain seed. So obviously we planted those offspring the following season in hopes of the same or better? What a shock we encountered when all offspring turned out to be "solid dark green"! An old green squash line must have been in the mix back a few generations. Naturally we had to get rid of the seeds unfortunately.
