I hate slugs... nasty gooey... the odd thing is everytime I see one it reminds me the patch might be in need of some epsom salts.. little here, little there, some spots just a well placed pinch

Coukd be, but slugs sorta prefer half rotten stuff. Could it be earwigs, or maybe something else...?

Earwigs...that´s a good point. We are having so many slugs around this year, so I simply thought it must have been the slugs. However, I couldn´t find the usual slimy "fingerprints".
