Did u split both sides/ make other cuts?? Hmm. I'm thinking you are supposed to add little splits on either side of the big split, so that the big split would not get bigger...? It may not have mattered.

yeah Dave, it can be a kick in the pants sometimes, yes I slit both top and bottom splits, the internal split was about 9 inches long and 3 or 4 inches deep , I dont think this one could be saved, it was tearing apart internally
