Damn. Don't blame your self as these things just happen sometimes. What to learn from this is to keep an eye on the stumps at least weekly if not more. I found a soft spot on one of ours and treated but may have a get a fan on it too.

John, I'm sure my Nephew will be checking his stumps on a regular basis now. With hip and back I can't walk the boards very easy so I've been just checking kins. Never told him about foaming stumps so he wasn't looking. Tough way to learn though for a new grower. I also forgot to tell him how you personally inspect and hand pick seeds you send me.
