Take comfort knowing what’s in the greenhouse. Dave’s a troooper, Janet will keep him busy now with all that time on his hands.

Sorry for your loss Dave. Every day I go out to the patch and gingerly raise the sheets in fear of finding a split.

Oh man, that hurts. Every time I see one I become more paranoid that mine is next. And this was one that you even put on a piece of plywood!

Most unfortunate, many growers will start having sleepless nights now until weigh offs. This pumpkin looked to still be a "baby" ton of potential?

Thanks to all for the sympathy lol. Pumpkin growing is like golf. You hit a few good shots(grow afew good pumpkins) and you start thinking like Tiger Woods(Travis). Then your next shot is on the wrong fairway( pumpkin goes sideways)...lol And then you practice some more to get it perfect. We'll be back !

Ah yes Dave good one stay positive, only hardens one up for more determination etc. Vast majority of growers start off with "small ones" gain experience, better seeds and so forth then finally hit the big time. Better this way then what we saw with a few growers in past years that had good success (luck) first year or two growing them but could never reach that weight again then quit unfortunately.
