I wonder if squashes could confer useful genes to pumpkins, not just the other way around. Particularly with many folks having stem issues this year... I dont know if there is a line of squashes that is maybe more immune to stem issues. This is a hybrid and it has shown both long and short stem traits, the previous set had a much longer stem. I dont know why long stems and larger vines and leaves are more common in squash. And yet the fruit are usually stubby and smaller.
