The 2020 Paton seed that was a 2365 x 2907 grew the paton brothers a 2600+
pounder!

Thank you, but now I'm scared, after the information I've received, what if I can't grow a pumpkin from this seed :)) at least some weight, it is so responsible to know which ancestors this seed has. Well, then who should I cross this pumpkin with? Or pollinate this pumpkin by itself?

I mean a lot of people tried the 2020 and didn't get anything, for various reasons I'm sure. The reason to try is because of the potential.

The fact that there is potential in this pumpkin is certainly good, but giant pumpkins are essentially roulette. It is not a fact that it is in this seed that the necessary genes and potential have developed. In any case, I'll try to grow it, as they say in Russia, "those who don't take risks don't drink champagne." ;))

A lot of growers are going to try the 2020 Paton this year including Mr gienger the world record holder. That should tell you something about that seed. Theres no guarantees on any seed stock and thats part of the fun.

Cross breeding strategy? Id self my best plant and put 1885 werner genetics into most of my crosses.

I guess I should mention that there may be a discrepancy in the two (2) seeds she has there depicting the
2020 Paton/2020(?.1) Paton;

2020.1 Paton 2023
Year Grown: 2023......Seed: 1885.5 Werner 2019...... Pollinator: 1885.5 Werner 2019
Weight: 2020.10......
Weighed At: Pinetops
*****************************************************************************************************
2020 Paton 2023
Year Grown: 2023......Seed: 2365 Wolf 2021...... Pollinator: 1885.5 Werner 2019
Weight: 2020.00......
Weighed At: Pinetops

Either weigh, two differing seed appearances and the same packet weight.
All is well except for what the pollinator was for each on PF and the .1 missing from the 1885 X XXXX seed label;
Maybe old news, butt not to a new(er) GROWER, I'll bet. eg

"We have three seeds from this year’s pumpkins.
2020DMG 1885 Werner X 2907
2020DMG 2365 Wolf X 2907
1668 DAP48 & EST 1885 X 2907"
I'll have what she's having, lol.
Aurum Pumpkin, see Ian and Stuart's Diary '23 to see what went into those seeds:
http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryView.asp?season=2023&grower=34207&action=L
Personally, I would merely put an exclamation mark on the 2365 X one indicating to
'PLANT ME!!! I grew 2641!'
In my opinion, there is still a discrepancy as to the 2907 or an 1885 being the
pollinator of an 1885 and 2365 between PumpkinFanatic and the masses. EG out.

I don't quite understand what you're writing about. I don't know English well. Can I write directly to Ian, what should I find out from him?

The two 2020 seeds you have have different crosses.
As was said, one grew a 2641.1. Grow that one, the
2365 Wolf X XXXX. You do not need to do anything.
No need to write Ian. If I knew Russian well, I'd still say too much, lol. Good Luck. eric g

Eric, thank you! And then with whom to cross this pumpkin 2365 Wolf. Or pollinate it on itself?

I would give ANY of the other seeds a chance, grow them like you mean it, with as much gain expected as any and selfing or pollinating from another would be no different in MY opinion, as any cross is changing the genetics; Listen to ALL suggestions of pollinating. No one will know the result until next year, anyway! I'd bet the...self or any other, lol.
I am no expert and yet, it won't matter. eric g

Thanks Eric, I have a lot to think about. It's a pity there's not enough space to grow, so I'd try to grow different pumpkins and cross them all with Paton/Wolf :)

Good plan - Using a rare seed to do partly what it's meant to do in great quantity; Some seeds 'get around', lol---(*_*) eg
