Hi! Please tell me, why do the cotyledon leaves of a pumpkin curl? I often see this in my seedlings, I can not understand the reason.

I think genetics has a lot to do with it, I did the same thing to all four of those seeds , plant them 1 inch down and on their side, all the seed casings came off in the soil, 2 came out nice and to curly..

Thank you, I just thought maybe the soil wasn't moist enough or the composition of the soil somehow affected the appearance of cotyledons, because it was so smooth that they came out of the shell, and then they started to twist. Some even twisted into a tube and it seemed that the seedlings themselves were developing poorly because of this.

With all (VERY)-due respect, as the seeds age it is probably good to not plant them so deeply, as it should be easier for our seeds than for, say, agricultural seeds. In fact, I plant any of mine with the rounded end slightly visible as the seed tip is at or about 1 inch max, but, to each their own. eg
