No secrets here, just the right amount of water and the right temperature. If I had a valuable seed that was perhaps 5 or more years old. I might consider doing some research and use some giberellins.

Exactly John same here for some 40 plus years since the days way back with Dad's WR pumpkins. Moist warm potting mix such as Promix, we don't sand, soak, or paper towel method to seeds. In the pot they go as nature intended! Good luck.

Hell, you don't need a Welsh Corgi. Porkchop let me in on that planting tip years ago. I have been using that direct seeding method ever since. It works great.

Lol. Deworms the dog and gets your seed planted... somewhere.
Pumpkins are about like corn? Nothing too special. Healthy seeds will want to grow!

So we plant them immediately in a pot without first soaking the seeds? And I understand that heat is important for growing. Is everything correct? And if you plant it directly into a garden bed, what are the risks of such cultivation?

Correct we just moisten a warm potting mix, fill our pots and plant the seeds. They definitely need a constant heat source to germinate. Planting untreated AG seeds directly outside is very risky with germination due to soil insects and temperatures in many areas due to the time frame required to produce a giant.
