Dear Group, My patch is being attacked by hundreds of cucumber beetles. I've dusted several times with seven, but we've had rain almost every day. A local garden shop told me that the dust will just wash away in the rain. He seems to be correct because the beetles are still around. Any suggestions???

ADVISORY: This is the time of year when earlier mature pumpkins may begin to rot without ones knoweldge. At 11:14am I pronounced a 53lb pumpkin officially dead and rotten and upon cleaning it up noticed a large amount of cucumber beetles inside. I would highly recommmend that since one doesn't always know a pumpkin is beginning to rot (many times it's from the underside) to check under larger pumpkins occasionally. Cucumber beetles seem to be attraced to the extremley unpleasant smell of a rotting pumpkin perhaps in part because they caused it in the first place. Gary
