How long will Imidacloprid stay active in the soil, and is it possible to plant corn after a treatment. What I want to know is if I till my corn under, spread Imidacloprid on the soil, till it in, then replant my corn, would the corn be safe to eat in the fall? Oh, same question for beans. The product I am going to use is Bayer Advanced Lawn Insect Killer (.15% Imidacloprid I believe). I am sick of loosing crops to these dang maggots.

Imidacloprid is labeled for use on Corn. The agriculture trade name is Admire. Seed can be treated with Gaucho. They're all the same thing.

Stick to the label rates. As McP said, your worms will appreciate the effort.

Monty, If your Temps have been as low as ours and the soil was more than damp... sweet corn didn't have a chance. I heard of guys that had early corn under plastic that didn't make it. Heck, even the field corn died and its a lot hardier.

At this point, I could care less if the worms die. They will come back in time. If I lose another planting of corn, that's 900 square feet of wasted garden space. I spread it as per the lable, watered it in yesterday, and planted again today. Just in time for another thunderstorm system to move in on us. Looks like I'll be out there tomorrow putting the washouts back in the rows.
