Please take a second and look at the latest pics in my diary. Something severed the stump of my 204 Bright right about even with the group or maybe a little below. I didn't notice until the whole plant collapsed today. It was fine yesterday. Any ideas on how to prevent this from happening from my other plants?
I've had slugs take out a small plant before but nothing of this size. I've had voles in my yard but they never bothered my plants before to my knowledge.

Just a guess, but I'd figure it would have to be something of a certain size to cut through in one sitting.

Brent,
Large animal rolling around? Big dog? Wild Boars mating? Worse still, teenagers? Patch Elephants? Any signs of foot or hoof prints?
Pull some stems for Bacterial Wilt threads.
Exhume & examine soom roots. White or brown?
Did you cut someone off while driving home the day before?
