So i cut open the main today in 2 different locations about 4" apart and the cut was about 2" long so i could kinda open it up to kill the worms I found one but couldnt locate the other, I think the second one may have cut up when i made the cut. I then burried the cut vine and watered well.
Would have it been better to let the vine stay above soil or will dirt and water getting into the cut hurt any?

when i had borer issues, i always felt more comfortable letting the area dry out instead of burrying it wet. that's just me though, others may have done different.
