I have applied merit around the stumps of my 4 plants 2 1/2 weeks ago and I'm starting to see more aphids under the leaves. Should I reapply another dose or does it take a while to translocate through the plant?

Should last alot longer than that. I know Tremor will help but it may help him to know how you applied and at what rate/concentration.

It doesn't take this long to translocate. What was the rate applied? Did it get watered in? Did you treat only the crown or the entire patch?

I applied 1 mL of merit in 1 gallon of water for each plant around the stump.
Thanks

Dave,
Seeing that you used milliliters to describe the rate leads me to think you're using a liquid flowable version of Merit. What percent Imidacloprid is it? Since you're in Canada I am concerned that the strength is different than that which I am familiar.
If we're talking about Merit 75WP (a dry wettable powder)then the rate is 4 level Teaspoons per 1-2 gallons of water applied to 1000 square feet of patch area.
If we're talking about the Bayer Tree & Shrub material that is found in US retail garden centers then the rate is MUCH higher than 1 ml per plant.
I am familiar with the consumer material that is only 1.47% Imidacloprid. If this is what you have then the eqivalent rate would be 8.7 fluid oz per 1000 sq ft of patch area. I wouldn't just be treating the crown area of the plant this time of year. By now the roots have spread through-out the entire patch so we need to treat that entire area.

I'm using the merit 75Wp powder. So I should spread the 2 gallons of merit solution around my 1800 square foot patch everywhere?
Thanks Dave
