I have a pumpkin that quit growing and developed a white rash on the skin at day 32. It looks like giant pumpkindude has the same thing. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=53999 any ideas ?

Looks like an abort to me. Once a pumpkin aborts they tend to go soft fairly quickly and turn into mush...

Agreed....the white stuff is one of the many "colored molds" that exist in the world. Later on red, blue, gray, brown ,etc molds will appear but white often starts early & on the outside.

Thanks. I better get rid of it before it gets too nasty.

Wash down like a real doctor after handling it. Bag it and carry it out to burry in the compost. Handle it as little as possible then clean yourself and your tools. The dry stuff (mold) sticks spore all over you and your tools. I would use a fungicide on the cut.
