Some of the leaves on my best plant (and on the others as well) have started dying off. They start with small browning patches, and then it progresses to where the leaf is a write-off. I was thinking it's some kind of fungus, but I'm also starting to have nasty aphid problems at the same time. I can't determine if the dying leaves are due to the aphids, or some kind of fungus, or both? Can someone check my diary and tell me what's up? I did see a little powdery mildew on three or four leaves - I recognized that, and have treated with some fungicide, but the other leaves don't look like PM.

Or just check my diary under "Lawmen." Any advice offered would be greatly appreciated.

Also like to mention that it looks as though the problem started on older leaves nearest the stump, and is spreading along a couple of secondaries, and to other leaves as well.

Conditions here have been warm and dry, and we haven't foliar fed for about a month. Soil has been moist, not wet for most of the day (we drip irrigate). My guess is Downy Mildew, but I sure would appreciate a more experienced opinion...

Use copper on your leaves, Like Phyton 27 or Kocide or you can try Rhypsody. I use phyton one week and the next week Rhypsody. It looks like the same thing I get every year, but mine seems to come on in wet weather, the copper keeps mine under control. Some one else will have to chime in on the aphids.

James, once you find out what it is, have a look at this link and then see if we can get some of these products in Canada. I think Quinn has got it right but don't know that we can get those products here.

Going to post this question on another website, maybe someone there can tell me what the problem is. I'll let you know what they say when I find out.

So why not use Neem Oil.....insecticide, miticide and fungicide. The oil will crunch the aphids and milldew. It will used as directed absoutely stop milldew and aphids.
We are having a rash of both in our area. I brought control into play with Neem Oil.

Lawman,
Did you spray the aphids??? The images in 71 & 72 show damage that is way past the point of return so fungicide may have checked the spread at best IF a fungal disease is active (which I doubt).
But if an aphid problem like the one is #73 is left unchecked there is no reason for second opinions.

James, the aphids are pretty obvious and you know what to do for them.
I guess the Lawman is just wondering what fungal disease some of the plant is suffering from. I think that Quinn's suggestion of using copper spray is a good one cause it looks to be either leaf spot, downy mildew, anthracnose or angular leaf spot.
Anyone know for sure what is shown in this picture?
