Last year I decided to grow a few pumpkins and within a few weeks all my plants and new baby pumpkins were destroyed by hundreds of these buggers. Well this year it is starting again, my plants are covered in eggs and larve aphids, and my plants are already starting to suffer. I really hate the idea of using sevin dust, but i have already had to use it to stop bean leaf beetles from copletely destroying my snap beans. Is there any other thing i can do ? At the moment I have about 10 plants and they all have larve and eggs present.

Maybe you have some really aggressive aphids because I have tons of them this year and they don´t do any harm to my plants, but if you want to do it the "organic way" look into "Nicotine vs. Cucumber Beetles" in the general discussion.

Hey RodneyDE, You can try some of the Jerry Baker tonics but if it's that bad you better get it under control fast. most of his bug tonics have tobaco juice antiseptic mouthwash, dish soap (lemon scented) and murphys oil. He also uses sevin in his concoctions if the plight is bad enough just at a reduced rate. Good Luck Chuck

Aphids?? it would take an incredible amount of aphids to do real damage they are just too small, i see an occasional aphid or two on my plants as they are pretty hard to see, i don't pay them any mind, are you sure they are apids??
