if they dont have pumpkin plants and such. Can they eat grass or weeds? Just trying to learn as much as I can so I can better fight them.

They like corn. They are all over my tall corn later in the year. Do you have any corn in Iowa?

The adults don't eat an awful lot of anything but Potato crops do get nibbled on.

Corn in Iowa...LMAO! Well I am next to a farm field but it will be beans this year. Maybe that will help.

steve, just asking, if they dont eat our pumpkin plants then what the H*&& are they doing there, do we know?
I just found two beetles on my two week old cucumber plants, this seems a bit early to me, what do they get from our plants?

Mike, I found that leaving a male flower or two open will get their attention. They always seem to huddle inside male flowers....Pinch the flowers shut, cut them off and step on them. I have yet to have any real leaf damage since trying this. It really does work for me.
Last season I did see a few cuke's on my giant sunflower leaves. Not sure if they were actually eating them or not though...

They do eat. Just not very much. They come to us to procreate. If they didn't vector diseases a small infestation wouldn't be so alarming. But it only takes one lucky bite to end the season so we wage war anyway.
