I found quite a few unfamiliar bugs on cucumber vines this morning. I think they may be a Thrip but not sure. They are shaped sort of like a Thrip and about 1/4" long. They are black and have red on the back. I also noticed under the cucumber leaves are covered with what appears to be tiny tan colored eggs. I sprayed them all very heavy and am planning on removing all vines from the garden today but am just curious to know what they are. I've also seen a big decline in the vines since they showed up. They have not hit the pumpkins yet . I may try to get a photo this morning to post on the site. Didn't think of that yesterday.

Thrips are spider mite sized, you need a magnifying glass to see them good. Sounds like squash bugs? A photo will get you some help.

Might be spittlebugs - I have had them on my cucumber vines recently.

The eggs sound like squash bug eggs but the bug does not.
