I am using my insecticide on a regular basis but am still plagued by teeny little black flying bugs. I believe they are called "No See-ums". They like to hang out on the pumpkins themselves. I thought when I gave the pumpkins their bleach bath that would take care of them. Nope. Is it okay to spray a little insecticide on the pumpkin itself? I keep the pumpkins covered most of the time so the bugs are not a huge problem. When I uncover the pumpkins suddenly I have about 10 on them. I assume they are not good for my plant.

You WANT to spray isecticide on the pumpkin. SVB can bore into the fruit too!
But I doubt those flying insects are eating the pumpkin.

They are soil gnats! I did some research and that is exactly what they are. I got my glue paper and am ready to roll.
