i heard over the weekend, that you can mix a tablespoon of bayer tree and shrub per gallon of water, and spray it on the leaves for aphid control. anyone have success with this?

Yep. Wheher soil applied or foliar, Merit is good on aphids. Foliar is much quicker.

is 1 tablespoon enough? i tried it the other day, didnt seem to do much. perhaps some hawkeye might help?

Scott, the correct rate for tree and shrub should be 5.10tsp / gallon. So you are a little light.
Merit 75WP rate is about .10 tsp / gallon. Merit 75WP is 51 times more concentrated than tree and shrub (1.47% imad.) so .10 x 51 is 5.10 tsp.
