I found a maggot 1 1/2 feet in the main vine before my pumpkin. The spot where it was- was rotten. I cut out the rot (half the vine)size of a quarter and treated with a variety of things. Will the vine still continue to feed the pumpkin with a spot missing like that? I understand that a vine will continue to grow if partially broken but will a pumpkin? This is my 1074 Calai- day 31- 448lbs. Damn

The vine will grow and heal...but it is a wound...so care needs to be taken to prevent disease and rot. It will actually scar over if given the chance.
