I had something eating the crap out of my vine tips and younger leaves for the last week or so. A friend of mine is a trapper and set a few traps in the patch for me today. I checked the traps around midnight and had fat old possum in one. I had no idea these critters would eat pumpkin vines! Well, this one won't anymore!

Possums are mostly carnivorous and scavengers..this time a year they are munching on grasshoppers.

Funny thing happen the other night, after spraying down the patch with a fresh batch of Fish/seaweed fert.I let "Jake" my redbone coonhound out and he immedeately ran to the back towards my patch baying-up at the top of his lungs all I heard was screams of either a raccoon or oppossum that must have been attracted to the patch from the fresh fish smells? i've caught numerous opposums in my live traps this year but i have not seen any damage to the pumpkins from them just those darn woodchucks!!!
