Same like here in Cologne, Owen. I´ll buy some garden fleece now in the garden market and put it over the plants. Might prevent the leaves from getting hail damaged. Pumpkins are already covered. Good luck.

Thanks Polka. Even with that forecast, we´re the "lucky guys". Right now 20.000 soldiers fight against the flood in the eastern parts of our country.

Looks like passing around. Lightning everywhere, little rain, nothing serious. Maybe some advantage to live on that "flea mountain"?! Will look for the rest of the night..

I sure will be thinking good thoughts for you guys. Hang in there! Hope you have plenty of cocoa and firewood. If there's anything positive about storms like that it's cozying up inside. Best of luck!!! Patience

That's okay Kilr, got the message loud and clear. looks like the most damage was from the rain. My wind breakers saved the patch and we didn't get the hail as predicted. Being new at this sport I'm not sure how much water the plants can take, hopefully it wasn't too much.

It was too much for me. The Deary pumpkin has a stem split right into the fruit as of this morning. There was no sign of that yesterday. Hope I can save him. Case, these phenomena belong to the global warming up as well. Too much vaporescence on the continent due to higher temperatures, all pooring down as rain or hail, together with storm. If we don´t stop letting all these greenhouse gases into our atmosphere, this is just the beginning of this "new kind" of weather. Imagine a future where you need a greenhouse made of bulletproof glass to grow a pumpkin...

we could use some of that rain, here in NJ, just got new drought restrictions, can only water plants and trees every other day, and can't water lawns, can't wash cars. Its getting worse here, we need some rain!!!!

Floh, sorry to hear about the stem split on the Deary. Hope that you can save him. Crazy weather we are all having, some are flooding, others are in a drought, guess that is why they say....good seed, good soil and good LUCK.
