No, totally different active ingredients. Triazicide is contact. Grubex is systemic.

Use them both. Grub-Ex with Imidacloprid pre-plant & again 6 weeks later. Use the Triazicide at the first sign of Squash Vine Borer & repeat every 2 weeks until September (give or take).

I've got both liq, and granular triazicid. I was going to use granular incorperated in the ground. and the liq. for spraying. but the granular has a differant ingrediant in it ,than does grubex. and thats why I possed the question if it was the same thing . But I guess its not ..

The active ingredient in Triazicide (Lambda or beta-cyhalothrin) is not systemic so using it in the soil won't do any good.

To clarify:
The Imidacloprid (systemic) is best applied at planting to the soil where the roots pick it up & translocate it throughout the plant. This provides great Cucumber Beetle control, very good aphid control & pretty good Squash Bug control. The first treatment may be granular. Repeat in 45 days but by then, granules won't be easy to use so liquid is preferred.
Lambda-cyhalothrin or Bifenthrin are contact insecticides. These are applied as liquids as soon as Squash Vine Borer adults debut. They also provide aphid, cucumber beetle, etc control. Since they most be applied to leaves, stalks & stems liquid sprays are the only effective treatment option.
Granular contact insecticides are best used on lawns for chinch bugs, web-worms, army worms, ticks, chiggers, ants, fleas, etc. (June through August around here)
Granular Imidacloprid is best used on the lawn for white grubs (June 15 - Aug 1 around here).
