Hello all, this is my second year attempting to grow the big one, I did not use any type of insect control last year and all of my plants except for one was dead by Aug. The one remaining plant had a 104lb AG on it. This year i plan i spending a whole lot more time on this and I know now it is critical to control the Cucumber beetles, squash bugs, & SVBs..
Does anybody know of a simple easy to read chart of exactly what to use, where to buy it and when and how often to apply it?
Thanks a lot for all of your help.

Imidacloprid liquid or granular at .3 lbs AI/A just before planting to the entire patch, water it in gently & keep moist. Repeat in 6 weeks.
Also spray Lambda-cyhalothing or Bifenthrin every 2 weeks starting as soon as adult Squash Vine Borers are seen in your area. Keep this up until the threat has passed.

Bayer also now makes tree and shrub forumala in a bottle which attaches right to the hose. So you are basically watering it in as you spray. Ive been stocking up on Bayer Tree and Shrub while its still avialable.

I use a system similar to Tremor's. Systemic and contact sprays. Then I sprinkle garlic powder around to repel the cucumber beetles. Works great.

Garlic is hard to over do. If a mist blower full of Garlic Barrier is an option then fog the whole neighborhood. You won't see a mosquito for 2 weeks.

I just buy $0.50 garlic powder at the WalMart grocery store. I start using it the day I set the plants out. I learned the hard way a couple years ago when the cucumber beetles wiped out several plants the first day. Cheap and it works.

Has anyone tried planting garlic, at various locations in the patch? Are there any plants/herbs that anyone has had any luck using as a repellant for our long list of pests? kevin
