4 level teaspoons per 1000 sq ft. The amount of water doesn't matter. I like to use 2 gallons, my partner likes 3. Since the Merit will need to be watered in, the plants won't care either way.

Is merit a foliar spray or do you spray it in the ground around the base of the main?

you can use it for both Lish, as a drench and foliar, I myself when I use it as a foliar I always wait until the plant is a little older when applying to the leaves.

I'm confused with the amount to use as well. If my patch is 30x50 that gives me 1500 sq feet but how does that equate to the amount poured at the base of each plant, considering the plants are small yet and only take up approx 10 sq feet right now?

1500 sq ft is 40% more than 1000 sq ft so.... 4 teaspoons times 1.5 = 6 teaspoons.
The amount of water doesn't matter. Make several practice passes using straight water from a pump sprayer. I'd like you to report back that 3 gallons works well for you.
If that is the case, use three gallons with 6 teaspoons. If you find a different amount of water works better for you, use it with the same 6 teaspoons.

50% more. Pud fingers.
Don't treat just the base of the plant. The plant will outgrow the base very quickly. Treat the entire root zone.
