Lets say you plan on pollinating you pumpkin the last week of June or first week of July. When is a good time to stop sraying for bugs, and when should you start back. Or is all this just nonsense and you can spray during the pollination period. I have heard not to spray two weeks before and then two weeks after the pollination, but lord that's a WHOLE month and ALOT of bugs not munching on your plant.

I've never modified the spray program but we don't spray when there are a lot of open males to keep from killing bees. I prefer to cut the surplus males anyway.
We also never spray any female that is to be pollinated within a day or two.

Mace, I always try to hold back on my Nitrogen about a week before pollination and after, as far as pesticides go, I just make sure not to spray a couple days before or after, including the day of. But that's just me, others may hold off a little longer or shorter.

Pollination is right when bug pressure (SVBs for me anyhow) starts to get heavy. I wouldn't dream of stopping spraying until the end of august (pesticides) or end of september (fungicides).
