I just pulled 3 tomato plant that were showing signs of the tomato blight going around this year..can it translocate to pumpkins? I've been staying up on my spray program but with the ridiculous aount of rain we have been getting in the Northeast I am worried about disease this year more than ever. Feedback is greatly appreciated! Mark

I don't believe they can cross infect but the causes is so similar the cautious eye should still be looking out. Elevate Calcium & fungicide usage for sure.

I pass a small garden on my way to work each day. Today I noticed that the tomato plants are all gone but the zuchinni's right next to them look fine.

I think they are different--fungus attacks everything differently. I saw some evidence of lower leaf damage to tomatoes in a garden yesterday. Everything ok here with weekly daconil. Mr. Checkon, I would really like to grow some of your PA pumpkins jjlorson@yahoo.com--Im using storebought seed this year, and im hoping to at least get to the altoona weigh off to observe. I used to work in ebensburg, and am from somerset county originally.

Late blight of tomatoes is an annual event in my garden. It seems when they finally start to ripen, which is typically late in summer in my climate, the blight hits and wipes them out. I have always had tomatoes and pumpkins in close proximity until this year and never seen anything resembling it affect the pumpkins. Powdery mildew late in the season, yes, but that's a different disease. This year I'm growing my maters in pots with no garden soil along my front walk. No signs of disease and ripe fruit before the end of July. I may be doing this every year from now on.
