Hi,
what can I do that the split on my 1566 Rodonis did not go inside? The pumpkin is around 1200 pound.

The split is 2 inch deep but did not go inside yet. I think the split is two days old.
Thanks

I would use sulfur dust & a fan running 24/7. Keep it 100% dry.
Some growers have been known to make relief cuts to reduce stress. I've never done it but the logic is reasonable.

That doesnt look too bad yet. I had one this year somewhat like that and I started out by seeing if it was holding water. I blew some compressed air in and bubbles and juice came out. That is when I knew I needed to make a relief cut, to relieve the splitting that was going into the pumpkin, and to give me a little more room to work on clearing out and drying the inside of the stem. If you cannot detect moisture inside you might be better off leaving it for now. If you make cuts into the stem you will for sure have a moisture problem if you didn't already, and it would be best not to unless totally needed.
