What kind of bug lays eggs that look like vine borer eggs, but are black instead? Whatever it is has been laying eggs on my pumpkin, cucumber, tomato, and lettuce plants.

Are they similar to those? If so, it was a squash bug.

No the eggs are black, and are around the stems. I am only finding them by themselves, not in clusters.

Sounds like a garden variety butterfly but a firm diagnosis s desirable.

After the mini monsoon we had I am led to think that the black eggs I have been seeing are seeds from some weed or plant. Not sure. Went out after the rain and there were too many of them on the leaves and plants for it to be from a bug. The neighbors also had a bunch of them. I am just going to spray and pray.
