Does anyone use Round Up for the weeds that sprout along the main and secondaries?
My plants are large, and I am having trouble getting the weeds under control. I use a stirup/action hoe, weedwacker, or weed by hand.
Thanks for your input.

With the pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers, I am doing the weeding by hand as I am hesitant to add more chemicals after hearing all the bad stories so far this year.

I tried it last week, just be VERY CAREFUL not to spray on the leaves. So far, I dont see any harm in my plant so thats good.
Don Young is a pro at this as he is everything else in this hobby.....maybe he can give some expert advice on using roundup here.

I have used Roundup under the canopy for several years without any noticeable side effects. Just be sure to use it at a reduced rate and avoid direct spraying of leaf stalks and foiliage. It will take some time for the weeds to die and you may notice only a suppression without an outright kill.
I will add, as a disclaimer, that this should be done only by one who is willing to risk damage to the plant by direct contact. Roundup has no residual activity.

Me and my Mom always use it without any problem. Just spray on a calm day in the evening with a spray shield.

Not the same product but this brought up a question I was wondering. How is Preen in the garden? Will it effect growth in any way or hurt the root system of the good plants?

Wait I looked it up the active ingreint is Trifluralin. If you read this it says it inhibits root growth.

A spray shield is a good idea. I was thinking about trying to spray it on a plant that is not producing for me yet, I have 2 back ups that I have not pulled.

I've hit the green vines with Round-up directly with no ill effects, but I don't recommend it for the novice applicator.
Use VERY low pressure with no wind. Dedicate the Round-up sprayer to ONLY this task and no other use. IF you ever must reuse this sprayer make sure to triple rinse with 10% bleach or simply buy another sprayer. Decent sprayers are cheap on Amazon for like $20 with shipping to your door in 5 days or less.
We mostly use Scythe contact organic herbicide. WICKED FAST RESULTS but smells like burned crayola crayons. LOL.
Scythe is usually added to 41% Glyphosate. 2oz of gly plus 4oz of Scythe. Weeds in the sun will die while you watch! It's great for the libido. LOL.
