I have lost 3 of six plants already, due to some kind of rot, at the base of the plant about an inch or two below the surface, first the pumpkins got mushy and the leafs started to hang, and then it was over, the root broke off at the base, inside was mushy, dont know whats happened, this is the first time this has ever happened.any ideas?

Do you have pictures? There are lots of diseases with mush as a symptom so it is hard to guess without pictures.

I will take pictures so maybe someone would have an idea, I did break open the root and did not see any bugs at all.
