Anybody care to guess or throw out an idea why this happens? I have had 5 mains blowout in the last two weeks and some side vines on mulitple plants as well. Maybe its weather related....its a real pain. This problem sets back the plants about a week if not more. case

Right now a lot of growing guides call for a ballance like this 9-18-9, 5-10-5 through bloom. Then six to seven weeks of 10-8-8 followed by a finishing 2-12-12. I believe in modesty because the manures and compost are my major feeders. I use liquids of AGRO-K which are Natural Products.
You can search AGRO-K or talk to Craig Lembke one of their reps who is a big pumpkin grower. cjlemb@webTV.net. Look at AGRO-K on line and then touch base with Craig if you feel you want to consider this growing philosophy. They have a pumpkin specific program. The program and or parts there of are used by a good many growers.

i havent fertilized much at all. just twice with calcium nitrate and i mixed some seaweed and fish emulsion....not really strong stuff. i have kepted all that fertilizing on the low down this year due to my many splits last year....
My 620 boyton was going to blow today as well but i was home this time and supported the main at the end...i think it kepted it from breaking off but there is still a across the grain cut on the side of the vine...hopefully it heals over.
