Recently a new bug has shown up in the patch. I haven't seen them before but it's scary because of the large number of them. They are about the size of a cuc beetle . Please look at my diary page below and tell me what you think

I don't know the bugs name. But the leaf where they are over does not look very pretty to me.

No the leaf doesn't look too good but luckly it's not my pumpkin...just a yellow squash in need of being pulled.

They look like Weevils of some sort. There are many different kinds. Adults (as pictured) aren't much of problem but their larvae are. Weevil larvae are smaller than typical garden grubs of the scarab beetle sort. But on succeptible host plants they can be awful. Merit for larval stages applied now. Acephate (spray late in the afternoon) or any of the Lambda-cyhalothrin containing roducts for adults.
