anyone know what this is? it's only one one CT field plant in a patch of several.

If Merit were in the plant a couple of nibbles would have been enough to KO the sucker. If mother would have eaten she may not have laid those eggs. If mother was underground hiding she may never have seen daylight. Using a good contact spray like Scimitar is a back up. The two together protect many pumpkin patches. Stephen fixed me up with both and the instructions how to use them. I have had only a few such feeding efforts and have seen no insects of concern on site.

Sorry i didn't specify....there's two pics on the page, i'm asking about the top picture, not the picture of the bugs.
