on my davies plant the "fiber like" roots are beginning to come above the surface of the ground. This has just started in the last few days. I guess the good thing is they are showing up everywhere (plenty of roots). I was wondering if anyone else has seen this, and is this normal? This is my 2nd year growing, I did not see this last year and I don't have this on my other plant.
Thanks, Mike

KY,
Have you had lots of rain lately? If it's like mine, the rain has washed away the soil that was covering those roots. I'd cover them with soil if you can!

This is a very common occurence in my patch as well...not quite sure why the roots grow upwards but they do. Its like little white spikes all over the place. Sprinkle a little dirt over the top of them and they will be ok. Try not to walk on them tho.

Maybe too much water on the subsoil... maybe bad drainage... maybe unknown reasons...

I have the same fiber type roots all over my patch. The first year i've seen it.The only reason I can think of is this year my soil is vary loose, and kept damp. ahab

thanks for the replys. Have had rain but not a "gully washer". They just seem to grow everywhere. I did some spot "roughing" of the surface, and I see them everywhere. From the responses, and e-mails, I thkink I have nothing to worry about.
Note: I did spend alot of time last night re-covering all vines and those "fiber like rots". WOW WHAT A WORKOUT RECOVERING THE WHOLE PLANT!
