I have 3 bifenthrin products and would like to be able to use them in my spray program this year. They are all different concentrations so I spent some time today figuring out how to use them. This info may be helpful to those who want to run to Home Depot (or other)so I want to share. Maybe someone would be kind enough to check my math also.
I am following the OVGPG spray program. They recommend Talstar diluted 1/4 ounce per gallon of spray. (7.5 ml. in 3840 ml. of water) The concentrated Talstar is 7.9% bifenthrin so the diluted spray recommended by them ends up 0.015% bifenthrin.
Ortho makes Bug B Gone Max which I got at Home Depot in the familiar red quart size bottle. It contains bifenthrin 0.3%. If you use 192 ml. of this product and you dilute to 1 gallon, you get the same recommended 0.015% spray solution.
Ortho makes Home Defense Max which I also bought one day at Home Depot. It is the product that comes in the larger gallon jug with a detachable hand sprayer. This product is bifenthrin 0.05%. Use 1152 ml. of this solution diluted to a gallon of water and you have the 0.015% spray.
When I say a gallon of water, I mean total spray volume of a gallon. There may be other ingredients you are mixing in the same spray bottle to get to a final volume of 1 gallon.
Tomorrow I am going to look at Warrior T and equivalents.
Best of luck to all, Tom K.
