I NOTICED TODAY A SMALL DILL RING STARTING ON MY 1172 GREER PLANT. THE FRUIT IS ABOUT 48INCHES AROUND / NEVER EXPERIENCER A DILL RING BEFORE. WHAT ARE CHANCES OF THIS FRUIT SURVIVING OR SHOULD IT BE CULLED. THE RING IS AT THE STEM END. tim

I had two pumpkins with dill rings last year and both split before the weighoff. If there is a decent backup going then give it a week and if the backup still looks good cull the pumpkin with the dill ring. If there is no backup then let it grow and see what happens. It's getting a little late for a new set to do much.

I culled one with begining Dill Ring. They are common but given a choice I would choose one without it showing.
