I have a male sterile pumpkin plant that I was able to get a fruit set on. It is perhaps 300 pounds, but I was happy to get one set with all my genetic problems. The female flowers looked deformed as well, but did set. The pumpkin fruit is very deformed, with the pumpkin kind of only growing on one side. Because of this, it cracked pretty good where the deformed angle is all the way to the middle.
My question is this: I've closed it up with insulation and duct tape, and sprayed fungicide. I've checked the crack a few times since August 15, and the pumpkin still seems to be growing, and it not rotting on the inside (or out) yet. Everything I read said a split to the middle will kill the pumpkin soon. What gives? Going to die soon? Love to make it to Halloween.

And it for sure has, just wondering how long it will take? Seems to be pretty healthy still.

You should have some mold starting on the inside by now-its likely to be mush by halloween
