Pulled the dying blossom's petals off? Or literally broke off the knobby projection from the pumpkin? How old are these pumpkins?

Oh Oh. I never had this happen before. Whatcha think folks? I should think it wouldn't hurt to dust the wet areas with Captan or sulfur just to play it safe? I have a 6 year old. At this age it would do little good ta punish him by making him fan the break for air circulation. He'll lose interest in 5 minutes or less guaranteed unless you sit there. So I should think that any other method of drying should be considered.
