I have some real nice ones growing, but my most promising over night has a half inch wide spot were it looks like it didn't grow. The skin looks the same in and out of the hole, is it a flaw. Also, I have two pumpkin from birth were the stems were so thick, large, that I can't make any prgress in making them 90 degress. These are all on the same plant, is this common? Thanks for your help!

Try moving them a little each day, like a quarter to a half inch or so, and during the heat of the day. Use a bamboo stick to hold it in place; either against the blossom or the stem, not against the pumpkin. Eventually you will get it positioned where you want it. --Bruiser
