Yesterday I found several groups of leaves wilted and brown; I have posted pictures in my growers dairy 8/16. There was no damage the day before so whatever it is came on very fast. I am suspecting bacterial wilt because the symptoms match exactly, and also because the cuke beetle population seems to be at an all-time high. Fruit growth has also dropped dramatically, and possibly stopped.
If anyone thinks this may be something else, or if you have experienced bacterial wilt, I'd like to hear from you. thx --Bruiser

Bruiser, Your pictures are not there yet, but check Ken D.'s diary. He has some pictures of a vine disaster in his patch.

After careful examination I found that the vines with the wilted leaves were rotted where they attached to the main. A total of 4 vines were affected, and I have since removed them from the patch. In addition, the main vine was filled with water, so I drained it. I suspect the area may have flooded more than I realized during the weekend thunderstorms.
So I guess my question is, Did the rot cause the wilting? Or is there a disease at work that caused the rot as well?
